“Death Was Arrested” Worship Piano Tutorial

“Our Savior displayed on a criminal’s cross

Darkness rejoiced as though Heaven had lost

But the Jesus arose with our freedom in hand

That’s when death was arrested and my life began”

If you’ve never heard the song, “Death Was Arrested” from North Point InsideOut, you owe it to yourself to give it a listen.

It’s so easy as we head past this Good Friday and Easter week to let this just be another year we celebrate the same way we always do.

The tough thing about being a believer over time is that it’s very easy to start becoming complacent… To start assuming that Jesus was going to resurrect after He died a terrible death.

I know I’ve definitely felt this.

I know the events that are about to happen, so I start to take for granted what His family and friends felt in those days leading up to Jesus’ resurrection.

I think we really have to try to put ourselves in the shoes of His disciples, family and friends who were there that day, watching all of the events unfold.

How devastated would we have been to believe that our one source of hope, had just been taken away.

The person we’d devoted that last few years of our life to was now gone and along with Him, our hope for a way out of the oppression being faced.

And then on the other side of the resurrection… What incredible joy – words can’t begin to describe – what fulfillment to have seen Him risen!

This song “Death Was Arrested” is an amazing song, in that the lyrics force us to face and think about the moments where Good Friday was not yet Good. It was actually a very Bad Friday for a bit.

I’m thankful to have been able to lead and sing this song many times and know that it will serve as a catalyst for incredible worship experiences for you as you listen, sing or lead this song.

I pray that as we jump in and learn to play this one, that you are flooded with the overwhelming grace, goodness and love God has for each of you.
